Truth to be told: polka dots print never goes out of style!!!
It has become a classic trend since the pin-up girls in the 40's. In the early 70’s, Mr. YSL himself got inspired by its multiple graphical uses and started presenting the trend as a fashion statement. Polka dots was also seen in the work of many artist such as the fashion illustrator Antonio Lopez.
I am not a big fan of the dots myself but this season’s (FW12) new approach to the print kinda got me thinking... I love the elegance of Stella Mac Cartney’s sheer dot underlay detail and the newness of Marc Jacob’s oversized, colourful polka dots mixed with floral and stripes. The new compositions to the polka dot gave a fresh new spin to this trend.
As YSL still inspired many designers today, it is clear that he was right: polka dots have such a graphical impact that is likely to be used and re-invented in many collections to come. xoxo Fabi

Verdade seja dita, o petit-poá nunca sai de moda!
A estampa se tornou um clássico desde do tempo das pin-up girls nos anos 40.
Nos anos 70, YSL usou as pequenas bolinhas em peças transparentes e assim trouxe um estilo elegante ao petit-poá.
A riqueza gráfica da estampa também inspirou muitos artistas, tal como o ilustrador de moda Antonio Lopez.
Eu não sou uma super fan da estampa mas vou confessar que a combinação de cores, tamanhos, texturas e transparências da coleção de Outono/Inverno de 2012 realmente me impressionaram…..Achei super chique as transparências petit-poá (inspiradas no YSL) da Stella MacCartney e também gostei muito da mistura contemporânea de bolas com floral e listrado do Marc Jacob.
O petit-poá tem um impacto gráfico tão grande que vai ser usado e re-inventado pra todo sempre ;)
