The best Grammy's 2012 look was Rihanna's. At least to my personal taste it was... I kinda have to confess that I am a bit obsessed with the way she looks. She has lost so much weight that her slimmer figure looked stunning in a super sexy dress with a deep V neck she has designed in collaboration with Mr. Armani. The body jewlery complemented the look B.E.A.U.T.I.F.U.L.L.Y.

A melhor produção do Grammy 2012, pra mim, foi a da Rihanna.

Nem preciso me justificar e dizer que como sempre o Grammy traz vestidos maravilhosos, bordados, com muito brilho, metálicos, etc... e se fosse escolher apenas o vestido, talvez um pretinho não seria minha primeira opção, mas o que diferenciou a Rihanna das outras foi o 'whole look' - que mais pareceu um makeover. Ela abalou bangú e valorizou o corpitcho SARADO - recém conquistado - em um pretinho super sexy que ela desenhou em conjunto com o estilista Armani. Prestem atenção na correntinha de corpo dourada que ela usa....tudoo

Preciso confessar que estou até um pouco obcecada com o quanto ela emagreceu.... também querooo...

Acabei de ver a produção da Gwyneth Paltrow's e vou confessar que so ví o modelito dela quase no final do Grammy depois que já tinha escrito essa matéria...acho que os 2 modelitos competem pra ver quem ganha o primeiro lugar...a Rihanna ganha pontos por ter emagrecido, mas a Gwyneth, é sempre MARAVILHOSA e linda. Layering should play a big role in the creating of winter outfits! Not only it can help to keep you warm but also it can refresh the pieces you have in your wardrobe. Here, for instance, I love the effect that the layered pieces created with the trim on the shawl neck jacket - a sparkling and fresh new trend. The grey colour is another good call and it was very well balanced with the dark pants. Great style, man!

Madame Grès is the artist responsible for the beautiful moulages and draping details that are inspiring me so much these days....
Grès is defined as the "sculptress of fashion" due to her amazing draping skills, as she managed to flatter the curves of women while revealing a bit of their skin.
Since her beginning in the 1930s, she was known for her innovative choice of fabrics to drape such as silk jersey, mohair, cellophane and even nylon. And it is current until today! What an inspiration.....

Grès ficou conhecida como a escultora da moda por criar vestidos esculturais que não só favoreciam o corpo de quem os vestia mas mostrava um pouco de pele - uma inovação para a época. Desde o ínicio, a estilista ousava não só no estilo mas com a escolha dos materiais drapeados como o jersey, a seda, o celofane, o mohair e até o nylon.

A dica de hoje é a uma combinação de cores inusitada, o preto e branco + o verde. Esse trio tem feito a cabeça de muitos designers como Oscar de La Renta acima e Jenna Lyons (não é TUDO essa produção de saia de paetê verde com camiseta listrada que já até postei aqui), e também tem sido usado como paleta de cores para acessórios e decoração de casa.

You must know by now that I am crazy about accessories and shoes....so I couldn't resist but to share the great Proenza Schouler Spring 12 line. I love the neon photon bag and also the kirkyness of the odd shape bag that looks like a vintage camera.

Proenza Schouler is a New York based womenswear and accessories brand founded in 2002 by designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. The duo met while studying at Parsons School of Design, collaborating on their senior thesis, which would eventually become their first collection as Proenza Schouler. Oláaaaaaaaaaaa

Tem coisa mais irritante do que tirar esmalte? Aquela chatice de acetona, algodão, acetona que cai no móvel e mancha... ( essa foi pra mim... kkkk) Enfim, pensando nisso a Sephora criou um conceito MARA pra remoção do esmalte. O 'instant polish remover " um potinho cheio de acetona com uma espuma dentro e um buraco no meio ( confira foto acima para entender melhor). It’s great to see a trend embracing local cultures. The cheap,colorful bracelets sold by local vendors along the Brazilian coast have beentransformed into the new must have trend of the season. The new take on thebeach style friendship bracelets is the customization for a more polished andelegant look. Details such as sparkle righstones, plastic details, skulls,etc …are important to transform the simple braided bracelet into a chic piece.

The credit of transforming a local culture into a trend is forthe Frieda & Nellie brand. In a trip to Equator, Stacy Herzog and SarahReid found the colourful bracelets braided by the natives and they’ve decidedto customize adding sparkling touches and mixing it with vintage pieces.

Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations at Met Museum

I love great exhibitions....specially when the subject is two AMAZING designers...

Schiaparelli and Prada: Impossible Conversations is the next exhibition to be featured at the Metropolitan Museum in New York, from May 10 through August 19, 2012.

The exhibit will explore the affinities between these two Italian designers from different eras juxtaposing the work of both designers. Prada, however is not too pleased with the end result as she thinks "it's too formal".In a recent interview she also comment that: "They are focused on similarities, comparing feather with feather, ethnic with ethnic, but they are not taking into consideration that we are talking about two different eras, and that [Schiaparelli and I] are total opposite. I told them, but they don't care."

I am now more curious to compare myself. Who wants to go to NY?

Eu adoro exposições de arte. Amo, na verdade! Especialmente quando o que está em cartaz é referente a duas grandes estilistas que fizeram história no mundo da moda.

A próxima grande mostra “Elsa Schiaparelli and Miuccia Prada: on Fashion” ficará em cartaz no Metropolitan Museum of Art, em Nova York, de 10 de maio a 19 de agosto. A exposição vai explorar as afinidades das duas grandes estilistas Italianas em duas eras distintas. A mostra ainda traz 80 criações de Schiaparelli misturadas com criações da Prada dos anos 80 até hoje.

A Prada, entretanto não está muito feliz com o trabalho do curador responsável Harold Koda porque ela acha a exposição "muito formal". Ela diz que a comparação feita entre ela e Schiaparelli é muito específica e muito detalhada, ela acha que não se pode comparar as minúcias já que o trabalho das duas estilistas foi traduzido de acordo com duas eras diferentes.....

Durantes as festas de final de ano estive na casa da Paula e ví a maravilhosa decor que ela fez pra sala de jantar. Um projetinho simples e barato que deu uma cara nova pra sua sala e vestiu sua parede. Gostei tanto que decidimos dividir aqui o passo-a-passo do DYI (do it yourself). Step 1: Buy old plates from your local flea markets (aka Value Village or Goodwill). The tip here is to find different sizes plates with texturized borders.

Passo 1: Compre pratos de segunda mão em mercados de pulga. A dica aqui é achar pratos de diferentes tamanhos e texturas de bordas.

Step 2: Give two coats of white spray paint.

Passo 2: Dê duas de-mãos de tinta spray branca

Step 3: Trace the shapes of the plates on paper and place it on the wall to get a good idea of the arrangement on the wall.

Passo 3: Trace a silhuetas dos pratos em papel pardo e cole na parede para ter a noção exata de onde colocar cada prato para harmonizar a composição antes de furar a parede.

Voilá, an amazing end result! Love it

1. Use a mini business card binder to sort the spare buttons and thread that come with the new clothing. Write the garment description on the back of an old business card to indicate which garment the button belongs to.

AZZEDINE ALAIA IN THE 21ST CENTURY

Have you heard about the designer Azzedine Alaia? The Tunisian-born designer is one of the most important artist of the last decade. Alaia is 'only' known for inventing the stretch mini, lycra cycling shorts and the bodysuit.
To display his talent, the curator Mark Wilson presents the exhibition called "Azzedine Alaia in the 21st Century" at the Groninger Museum. This exhibition presents the amazing creations of the designer over 10 years.
I know The Netherlands is a bit too far but the good news is that the exhibition will also be displayed in NY subsequently.

Oie. Vocês conhecem o trabalho do estilista Azzedine Alaia? Alaia é um dos mais importantes estilistas da última década e pode ser considerado como o mestre das silhouetas. O artista nasceu na Tunísia e se mudou para Paris nos anos 50. Ao longo dos anos o estilista se reinventou, entre outras coisas, ele que inventou a mini saia stretch, o shorts ciclista de lycra e o bodysuit.

Para comemorar uma história de 10 anos de sucesso, o curador Mark Wilson juntou as peças mais importantes de Alaia e montou uma exposição chamada "Azzedine Alaia in the 21st Century", que será exibida no Groninger Museu na Noruega.

DYI: Black Candlesticks

For my husband's 40th b-day (two weeks ago) I've decided to work on a black and white theme for the party's decoration. After finding the perfect "background" piece - a cute and classy stripped fabric at Ikea - to be used as the table cloth I went looking for candlesticks to add drama to the decor. The candlesticks I've got from Value Village were great finds (all of them for as little as $30) and had great patterns, but the exterior was either tarnished or didn't match the overall theme. So I've picked a glossy black spray and voila: a fresh new look!!!! Check it our below how a simple DYI can be a great solution to bring spark to for your holiday decor!!!!

Para aniversário de 40 anos do meu marido, decidí fazer uma festa preto e branco depois que encontrei o tecido listrado perfeito para ser o ponto focal da mesa. Para dar mais dramaticidade `a decoração fui atrás de candelabros pretos. Como não os encontrei, decidí fazer um DYI. Fui no "Value Village" - loja de roupas usadas e tranqueiras velhas aqui de Toronto - e achei vários candelabros antigos (pela bagatela de $30 dolares). Pintei com tinta glossy preta e o resultado (abaixo) ficou lindoooo. Espero que você goste dessa super dica para compor a sua mesa de Natal "com estilo"! Beijooo Fabi

Step 1. Spray the first coat of white primer and let it dry.
Passo #1: spray a primeira de-mão de primer branco e deixe secar.

Step 2: Spray 2 coats of glossy black and let it dry. Note that on ceramic, it is a little more tricky so you might need to spray paint as many coats as it covers the surface

Passo #2: spray 2 de-mãos de preto e deixe secar. Na cerâmica a tinta escorre, minha dica é passar o spray quantas vezes forem necessárias até cobrir a superficie completamente.

Finish product. Enjoy!!!!

My favourite shoe of the moment is the elegant Louboutin peep toe. The colour is right - look out for mauve next spring - and the cut is sexy yet elegant. The look is also right as the red nailpolish makes the perfect combination for spring 2012 hot hues. Bravo!

Following the same somber line of my last post, I've decided to share with you Serbian fashion designer Dejan Despotovic's 2009 Fall / Winter lookbook. His work took the fashion world by storm two years ago when he launched his fashion collection at the Belgrade fashion week. This work is about mixing different medias to obtain powerful and intriguing images that are both beautiful or challenging. With a lot of awards under his belt, I have no doubt that Dejan's non-ortodox work is recognized by many but not to be admired by everyone. Does this two postings with two years apart mean that this "dark vibe" is resurfacing? Not quite sure as this trend may have always been there anyway......

Oie. Seguindo a linha sombria do post da MAC de ontem, resolvi dividir com vocês o lookbook de 2009 do estilista Sérvio Dejan Despotovic. Dejan lançou a sua primeira coleção na semana de moda de Belgrado e desde então não parou de ganhar prêmios. O cara eh fera! Prêmios não faltam na carreira desse jovem estilista que pode não agradar a todos, mas com certeza tem uma legião fiel de seguidores... O que eu gostei dessa coleção foi a mistura de mídias, criando imagens que se tonam belas por serem intrigantes, fortes e até desafiadoras. Será que estas duas matérias sobre dois eventos tão distantes significam que essa tendência 'negra' veio pra ficar ou que ela realmente nunca saiu de moda? O que vocês acham? Beijoooo Fabi

The latest MAC collaborator is the British fashion designer Gareth Pugh, who created a chic, dark and futuristic makeup collection for the Brand. Think of a re-vamp, chic, somber Marlyn Manson with silvery and blue nail polish with purple lipstick and add a triangle-shaped false eyelashes to the mix. Pugh was given 'carte blanche' to create the make-up colours, to design the packaging (geometric) and to make a film (somber yet mysterious) to celebrate the launching. Hurry up as the goodies will be only available from November 23 to December 23.

O estilista Britânico Gareth Pugh, conhecido pela sua pegada geométrica, minimalista e escultural, criou uma coleção para MAC. A linha de maquiagem tem um 'Q' futurista e traz esmaltes furta-cor, batons violetas, sombras cintilantes prata e até cílios postiços triangulares - que adaptam melhor ao formato do olho. A novidade é que a empresa de cosméticos deu 'carta branca" ao estilista para criar desde a tonalidade das maquiagens, até a embalagem (geométrica- sua assinatura) e o vídeo de lançamento acima. This is a Restaurant tip for the Torontonians ;-)

Today I tried a very nice Restaurant for lunch, and I was happily surprised!! Not only the food was amazing ( I had Squash soup and as a main Shitake Ravioli), but the place is very pretty and the owner- Pedro Quintanilla - ADORABLE. The name of the Restaurant is BLOOM and is located on 2315 Bloor St (Between Durie and Windermere). Next time you are around Bloor West village, give this Restaurant a try and be surprised by the delicious menu and amazing atmosphere. Beijao, Paula

Hoje eu fui almocar fora com minha filha e resolvi experimentar um Restaurante que sempre me "paquerava" mas eu nunca tinha dado uma chance ;-) E te digo que fiquei muiiiito surpresa e satisfeita, comida maravilhosa ( pedi sopa de Squash e como prato principal, Ravioli de Shitake), lugar lindo e o dono encantador!!!!!
